Doppler, or Vascular ultrasound uses sound waves to evaluates blood flow through a blood vessel. It is one of the safest and least invasive techniques, which uses no ionizing radiation to provide extensive information about the that sometimes can’t be measured by x-ray or other images.
Very little preparation is required for this procedure from the patient, except to wear loose, comfortable clothing, and the possibility of changing into gown, if needed.
So why is vascular ultrasound useful; it helps to monitor blood flow, locate and identify
-blockages (known as stenoses in the arteries), or blood clots (known as deep venous
thrombosis (DVT) in veins of the legs and arms).
-abnormalities like plaque or emboli a
Duplex scans also help to plan for effective treatments, determine types of procedures
such as angioplasty, and evaluate the success of procedures
